The Outsiders

Chapter 3- I think the difference between the two social classes is the way that they live their life. Soc's are kind of always involved in activities and extracurricular activities and don't really get to live life. While Greasers are kind of out going partyers that don't really participate in hardly anything, but their lives are usually unstable. I would rather be a soc because they have nice families and aren't living on the streets and they have a stable lifestyle.
Chapter 4-Bob is laying on the ground by a big water fountain with a big hole in his head where Johnny stabbed him with a knife after Bob was trying to drown Ponyboy. There is a cigarette on the ground close by and there is blood everywhere along with water splashed outside of the fountain, so there was something that happened in the water that caused it to splash over. Johnny should be charged for murder, Ponyboy for an accomplice. Randy, Paul, and Ponyboy are witnesses. Johnny- Murderer, Bob-Victim, Ponyboy, Randy, Paul-Witnesses. Weapons- Knife
1. He bought a book, peroxide, a deck of cards, box of matches, a week supply of baloney, two loaves of bread, a paper back copy of Gone with the Wind
2. Ponyboy cuts his hair short and bleached and Johnny just cuts his hair.
3. They read Gone with the Wind and played poker
4.He was getting sick of all of the baloney. They had eaten all of the candy bars on the first two days and was craving a pepsi. He got sick from all of the smoking on an empty stomach.
5. They are probably worried sick and they want him back.
6. They started a war and picked up a spy.
7.Cherry Valance

8.They start a war

Chapter 9- Discipline the people who take it too far. Take away the movie or give detentions. Make them change
Chapter 10- Gallant-brave, courageous. I don't think so. I think that you can be brave but don't do good with your bravery, but a hero is a person that does good for others. Dally got sentenced to jail but never broke down or anything. Dally knew what to do when Pony and Johnny came up to him and needed a plan. I don't think this makes him a hero. It could make him a hero in Pony and Johnny's eyes though.
Chapter 11-He recovered pretty fast. He smoked while he was recovering. Randy came to visit Ponyboy and so did the rest of Ponyboy's gang. Some of the visitors were from school and they weren't really buddies of Pony's, they were just school friends. They were from nicer houses and then they came to Pony's house that wasn't very nice. Pony and Darry fight a lot, but I think that they still love each other.
Chapter 12- Pony didn't get sentenced to anything. Everything went back to normal. I agree that with the outcome. The purpose of the book is to stick with your family through thick and thin. It is from Pony's point of view thinking back on Johnny and Dally.

Reaction- I liked the story of the book. It is a good plot line. I like how there was different kinds of people and how they got into wars and battles.

The Giver Popcorn Maker

https://jmohr16.makes.org/popcorn/1yr7
Created by Justin Mohr, Taylor Peterson-Schroeder, and Dawson Bock

What Works- The plotline is a pretty good story. They could keep the escaping from the community.

What Doesn't Work-They could jazz up the ending of the book.

What Changes would need to be made- The ending of the book

What Changes you notice- The end was changed to being abducted by an alien ship, instead of sledding down a hill

Thought provoking question or statement to make the viewer want to see the movie- Giving painful memories to people who have only ever experienced a pain like a jammed finger could end up in mass chaos. How will they keep the community from breaking out into a mad house.

The Giver Chapters 1-12

Chapter1- I think being released would mean being killed. Johas made the joke about his friend being released after messing up in soccer and he got a serious reprimanding because of it. Its nothing to joke about. Its a perfect community, everyone is the same and no one is extremely different. There aren't any cars, you don't get to choose your jobs, nearly everything it completely different.
Chapter 2- It would be pretty terrible. Your birthday would be just like a holiday, everyone would share it together. ON the plus side, you really wouldn't have to remember your friends or your family's birthdays because they were all on the same day, but it would still be weird the thought that everyone in you community would have been "born" on the same day. I feel like I would be an Engineer like Father's friend that he mentions. If I were a part of their community I think the elders would realize my interest in building things.
Chapter 3-Jonas notices that the eyes of Gabriel are like his, they are lighter than everyone else's and Jonas has only ever know one other girl with the same pale eyes as him. I would feel very self conscious. Everything I would do I would think about everything very decisively, thinking about absolutely everything before I did something. I do think something is different about Jonas because he saw the apple. I don't know what it means and apparently nor does Jonas.
Chapter 4-The community has so many rules to keep everything in perfect order and everyone the same. If there weren't so many rules people would have the chance to be different and then it wouldn't be the perfect community. Some of the rules are naturals things like not to brag and to not hoard food and things that honestly should be naturally done. But they also have rules that are designed just for the perfect world and the people in it. I honestly kind of like the rules to and extent. It seems to make everyone nicer and people just get along better, but at the same time sometimes I like to differ from the larger body, do things on my I think these rules will come in later when Jonas breaks them for whichever different life he will eventually start looking for.
CHAPTER 6
I think each personnel is watched very carefully even after there assighnment an into adult hood. That way they can sort of find out what would be the perfect match for the famiy unit and who would be the best to raise familys together.
CHAPTER 7
I would feel scared and hopeful at the same time. The chief isn't the kind to forget someone, so she had to of done it on purpose. Now whether that was a good thing or a bad thing would be impossible to tell. Maybe she is giving you a very special assignment that would be very prestigious. Maybe she is skipping you because you don't get an assignment.

Pros-Its a good story, releasing mystery, Jonas has stirrings, pills,

Cons- Think of what release is, teaching siblings to ride bikes,

Changes- put a cute boy in it thats older than 12 like the real movie,

CHAPTER 8-I think he can see things that no one else can. I think he can see the future and what will happen to the object. I would rather be assigned a job because I feel like the elders would know what job would be best for me.
CHAPTER 9-I think they can change because they are considered adults now. I think they will change because Jonas won't be able to even see Asher anymore. I think Jonas finds it unsettling because he could have been lied to before and he could have been lied to his whole life.
CHAPTER 10-You wouldn't have any privacy, you can't hide anything from anyone. He doesn't know about any history or future of anything, he is only concentrated on his present life. You are really concerned about any of the outside world. It would be peaceful because you would have very much stress, but it would be monotonous because you are enjoying any of the outside world's great things.
CHAPTER 11- It would be weird to never experience anything other than the present world and only things that concern you.
CHAPTER 12- I would probably miss the color blue because there are many different shades of it and it is a soothing color. The sky is blue and it would be weird to not have a sky. Sameness would be weird because it would be the same thing every day.

Gravediggers 224-242

Josephina, the girl whose mother is the Warden of the Island, helps Ian and PJ over the wall that leads outside. Ian and PJ know now that they must not stay with Danny and his crew. O'Dea stayed at the camp to get Kendra from Danny. While Kendra is in Danny's cabin looking at his studies, she hears a gunshot. She comes outside to see Danny with slimy blue liquid all over him and his partner. She hears them say that the two kids, her friends, Ian and PJ, jumped over the wall into the horde of zombies trying to escape. Kendra doesn't believe them, so when they leave, she goes to check the security cameras. When she gets there, she sees that her friends made it over the wall safely with Josephina. She then discovers his new plan: not a video game, but a real-life zombie apocalypse experience. He is going to give the zombies steroids so they are faster and more difficult to kill. He is going to practically invade Puerto Rico with zombies.

Gravediggers 182-200

Danny shows Kendra his work on the zombies and Kendra is really impressed with his research. Danny has a lab with a computer that talks to him. He can ask it pretty much anything and it will answer like an intelligent person would. When she tells Ian and PJ about Danny, Ian and PJ don't think that Danny is a good person. After they tell a person in the camp to go get them some food

Young German Boy Killed at Auschwitz?
Bruno Hoss, the son of the Commandant Hoss who presides over the Auschwitz Concentration Camp for the Jewish, has disappeared unexpectedly.  Local reporters say that a German soldier found his clothes near the fence of the camp. Upon further investigation it would appear that there was a fault in the fence where it reached the ground. Just big enough for a curious German boy to crawl through.  There is still no sign of young Bruno. Authorities are thinking that he crawled under the fence disguised as a Jew because his clothes were left outside of the fence. No one has any idea where or why Bruno had gotten the common Jewish Camp attire, or why he would want to go to the camp.
Bruno's Father is obviously terribly distraught over the death of one of his two children. He only had one thing to say, “My time here at Auschwitz has torn my family apart. I should have never agreed to this madness. I can see what this place actually is now, and its worse than where I am going.” The Commandant has sent his wife and his daughter back to Berlin to try and recollect what they have left.  The tragic story of such a young boy that was most likely killed by such a silly war is only one amongst many. Such terrible events seem to happen everyday and yet nothing is being done. When will the madness stop?

Gravediggers 144-158

Ian and PJ tie ropes to trees at about waist level to slow down the 300 zombies and hopefully take out the legs of a couple of them. On their fifth rope Ian notices some of the markings on the trees. They are the markings of witch like curlicues. Now that they notice them they see them all over the trees. They start moving toward where the cords of the security cameras lead to and find a huge cement wall. There is a tree next to it that is close enough to the wall to jump, but a guy comes out and pulls them in. Inside there are huts with thatched roofs and it is like a little village inside. A soldier leads them to a hut, and inside, there are white walls with TV screens all around the walls. The TV screens are attached to surveillance cameras all around the island. Also, inside of the room are O'Dean, Kendra, and this other boy that they have never seen before. Who is this boy?

Gravediggers 107-124

Ian was trying to carry PJ while running away from zombies when some monkeys snatched PJ up into the trees to get him away from the zombies. Ian was still on the ground but the monkeys were throwing rocks at the zombies and taking them out. After that epidemic, the monkeys showed Ian where they got their water. It was at this waterfall, and when Ian got there he took as many gulps as he could. Then, the monkeys lowered PJ down to Ian and Ian splashed water in PJ's face to wake him up. When he wakes up, a voice comes on the walkie talkie that they had found in the pit. The voice tells them that the monkeys respect them and that they should follow them because they know where to go. Where will the monkeys lead them?

Gravediggers 94-107

Ian almost walks into a huge pit full of spikes. The pit was covered by a tarp of green vegetation and Ian didn't see it and almost got killed by the spikes. A zombie was right on their tail, so PJ thought of a quick plan. If PJ stood between the zombie and the pit Ian could push the zombie in right before it got to PJ, but PJ would have to duck at the last second. So, when PJ got in front of the pit, he was calling the zombie to come get him. When the zombie got close enough PJ yelled go, but Ian wasn't there. PJ ducked, and he got lucky enough that the zombie lunged for him at the last second, and it tripped over the crouched PJ. What will the other zombies do?

Boy in Striped Pajamas Chapter 16-20

CH. 16 17
Mothers Medical Sherries are drinks of whiskey to help her cope with what is going on. Lt. Kotler has been moved away from the camp which makes Bruno a lot happier and is glad he is gone. We can only guess that this is because Mother and Lt. Kotler were having an affair and Father found out. Grandmother has passed away and the family goes back to berlin for awhile for the funeral. Father is rather distraught and so is Bruno realizing all the things he can no longer do with Grandmother. At the Funeral Grandmother receives several wreaths from other mourner and among them is one from Hitler, Father is rather proud of this but Mother knows that if Grandmother was still alive she would have had a fit because she was not in favor of Hitler and his cause or what Father is doing for the man. Gretel over this time is growing up and she no longer has her dolls on the shelves and instead has maps of europe. Bruno and Shmuel still meet every day and they are quite the friends. Mother and Father continue to argue as Bruno overhears and that they are fighting. One day Bruno and Gretel find lice in their hair and Bruno has all his hair shaved off, as he is looking at his new do he realizes that he looks alot like Shmuel without any hair. Chapter 17 is basically the beginning of the end for the book, Everything is changing and its not for the better the ways things are looking.

Ch. 18
The end of the book is definitely a rather shocking ending. I really do like the ending  but I do have some complaints to. The ending has to end with the author mentioning that what Hitler did obviously can’t happen again and it seems that he has a little sarcasm in his voice when he says that people are now better than that, honestly it is a little insulting that he thinks there is still another disastor like the holocaust on the horizon.

Gravediggers 32-51

O'Dea tells Kendra, Ian, and PJ that it is their duty to go to Puerto Rico. She tells them that they are the chosen ones and they are probably needed there. O'Dea finally tells them that there are going with them to Puerto Rico because there are probably going to be other wardens there. When they get there, PJ's mom is really protective and asks him about his sunblock and his sunglasses and if he has them.

Gravediggers 21-36

Ian, PJ, and Kendra are gravediggers. O'Dea turned them into gravediggers. Ian, PJ, and Kendra have suspiciously won a free vacation trip to Puerto Rico in a lottery, even though PJ never put his name into it. Kendra tries to convince her dad not to go because some dark forces have to be at play if all three of them won the trip. They all agree to meet at the cemetery at eight o'clock to discuss the trip. When they get there, the gates are locked and PJ pulls out a zombie's hand and they all touch it and a blinding light appears and the chains fall right off the gates. O'Dea ends up being in the cemetery and she explains how nothing is going to be luck any more because they destroyed those zombies on the mountain, but instead, it will be because of dark magic. She also said that they must go to Puerto Rico. What will happen at Puerto Rico?

BSP 14 and 15

Bruno after living at “Out-With” and talking to Shmuel is still oblivious to what is really going on, on the other side of the fence. One day when Bruno goes to meet Shmuel he finds that Shmuel has a black eye and thinks that bullies have been picking on Shmuel. He has no idea where he would have actually gotten this. Bruno and Shmuel meet every day and when Bruno doesn’t get to meet him one particular rainy day and he malines some of the stories Shmuel had told him to Gretel and realized how much Shmuel in the kitchen and was shocked to find him there.  Lt Kotler brought Shmuel to the party to work.  In personal opinion, I think mother is have an affair w/ Lt Kotler.  “Oh, Kurt, precious, you're still here,” said Mother.  ¨I have a little free time now if---" Then mother notices Bruno.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 319-327

Bronwyn thought all spontaneously and made a quick decision to charge at the wight, Golan. When she got close enough, she threw the door that she was using as protection against Golan's bullets, at him. After he was hit he must have gotten up because they could hear him going up the stairs of the lighthouse. When they get up to the top of the lighthouse, Golan threatens to throw the birds over the edge, into the ocean. Jacob had Golan's gun now and had it pointed at him. Golan threw the birds over the edge and into the ocean. Emma grabbed Golan by the throat. Jacob still had the gun pointed at Golan. Will Jacob man up and pull the trigger?

Boy in Striped Pajamas Chapter 11-13

CH 11. Hitler will be joining Bruno and the family for diiner and the author describes Hitler in some great detail, he describes him as a rather short man and thin patch of mustache on his upper lip. These are fairly based on real life and is a fairly accurate description of the man.

Ch 12. The star of david arm bands represented the Jewish and the Swastika represented the Nazi regime. Shmuel being Jewish was forced to move away from his house into a Ghetto and then eventually to Auschwitz. All of those people on the other side of the wall are Jewish

Ch 13 Bruno is still confused about what is going on at “Out With”, he questions Maria about Pavel and what he said about being a Doctor and not a Waiter. Maria however just confuses him more and this gets Bruno no closer to knowing what is actually going on. At dinner Pavel is growing old and Bruno is noticing. He is struggling holding the plates, leans against the wall, and doesn’t hear mother or father until the third or second time. Pavel accidentally spills wine on Kotler and something unimaginable happens. What it was we do not know.

Boy in Striped Pajamas Chapter 9 and 10

Bruno has changed a lot over his time at “Out- With”, he has grown and is getting older. Bruno now has a tutor and doesn’t write to his grandparents anymore. Brunos tutor even refers to him as a “young man”. However, Bruno is still stuck in Berlin, he remembers exploring the house and thinks he should do the same here. He begins wondering what this house actually holds within, and what it actually means that they have to live her. He wonders about the people that have to wear Pajamas and why they were selected to wear Pajamas and why they follow the other Nazi’s lead. He thinks that by now he would have had some of those people to dinner and why he hasn’t talked to them. Bruno has also been looking at a bench from his window and wants to know what it says. While he explorers he finds out what it says and it turns out it was dedicated to the dedication of Out With.

Chapter 10
The first time Bruno and Shmuel meet Bruno was in full explorer mode and at first was very cautious approaching the boy in front of him. When he finally approached the boy they both said hello and sized each other up. Bruno noticed that the boy was smaller than him and much thinner and sadder than he was. He mentioned that he has been exploring to the boy for over two hours, the boy asked if he found anything, so Bruno replied that he had found him.  Bruno knew there was something different about this boy, the way he looks and the way he acts. As it will turn out they share the same birthday and they are the same age. Bruno decides that he misses having friends and thinks that Shmuel will be the perfect friend, them practically being friends. Shmuel actually speaks two languages and this is amazing to Bruno, he doesn’t know anyone who can speak two languages.

Long Shot 174-182

Pedro is kind of nervous for the election. He had done all that he could do with his amazing speech, and now it was up to the people of Vernon Middle School. All day, Pedro was trying to act as if he didn't care, but he did. He cared as much about this as anything that had ever happened to him in sports. And when Mr. Lucchino's voice came on the intercom and said that Pedro Morales and Sarah Layng were President and Vice President, Pedro felt as if he could hear that whole school cheer for him. Even better yet, Pedro won his starting spot back on the team. Coach Cory pulled him aside in their practice that evening and told him that he would be starting the next game.

Pavel

Long Shot 142-170

Pedro goes to talk to his dad, Luis, about what is happening on the court. Luis is unpacking dinner plates that he ordered from California for his shop, and Pedro wants to help him unpack. Luis talks him up and gives him some advice. The next day Pedro has to give his speech in front of the whole school. The speech is on who is going to be president with Pedro Morales and Ned Hancock running for the position. Ned is the first on to go, and he looks like he just made up his speech on the spot. Ned kept talking about how he was always the captain of all of his teams and how he was such a great athlete. Then Pedro went up and gave his speech, and it was great. He talked about how he was never the greatest athlete, but he was always a great team player. He said that he wasn't here to make himself look good, but make everyone look good. Pedro got a standing ovation. How will Ned react on the basketball court now?

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Long Shot 124-136

Pedro's basketball team is going against the Warriors, and the Warriors are the best team in the league. They have two of the best players in the county, Nate Clark and Kyle Sullivan. Ned, the teams best player tries to guard Nate, who is on fire and is schooling Ned. But Ned stayed on him for the rest of the game. When Pedro his Ned wide open in his money spot with 5 seconds left, Ned passed it back to Pedro for the game winning shot, and Pedro missed it. The team wasn't very happy that they had missed the chance to

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Long Shot 99-121

Pedro and his mom are downstairs watching the game and talking about Pedro's dad, Luis's, job. Pedro's mom doesn't usually watch any basketball game with Pedro, but Luis is gone tonight working. Luis might get laid off soon and Pedro doesn't like the thought of that, but Pedro knows that his dad won't give up. The next day at practice Pedro goes as hard as he can, and at the end of practice, he picks Ned, the best player on the team's, pocket and goes down the court and scores the game winning basket. Ned wasn't very happy about that at all, and at the next game Ned tried to make Pedro look bad. Ned was cutting to the hoop off of a designed play and Pedro through the ball right as Ned stopped. The ball went flying out of bounds. On defense Pedro was guarding his guy when all of a sudden he got blind-sided by a screen that Ned never called out. How will Pedro react?

Chapter 6 BSP

Maria has been the family Maid for awhile, Bruno can remember her from when he could remember. Bruno considers her apart of the family although she feels different. Maria was taken off the streets by Father. Maria thinks rather highly of Father and repreamands Bruno for calling him Stupid. Maria thinks highly of father and respects him for doing what he did. Taking someone of the streets and paying for someone else but family in the Hospital is a big deal.  This changes Brunos out look at Mariaand his father for doing such amazing things for someone else. Bruno also looks differently at Maria differently, as a real person  and not just a mindless maid.

Chapter 4 and 5 Boy in Striped Pajamas

Bruno and Gretel are still very innocent  about the World War, they have no idea what is going on from the concentration camp to not understanding what their father does. They are not oblivious to the fact but rather that they don’t know what else to think.  The house is most likely in Auschwitz, Bruno and Gretel aon’t know what they were looking at through Bruno’s window but it was most likely the concentration camp. They mention seeing a chain gang and soldiers marching the people around. Even Bruno is realizing that this is no place to raise a family, he may be a helpless child but he realizes that this place is bad. Bruno is beginning to hate the house more and more, he doesn’t understand why his father would take a job here, but Bruno doesn’t know that his dad most likely didn’t even have the choice. Bruno’s mother is definitely not the biggest supporter of this but she knows what it means to her family, she wants to keep them together even if it means living on a Concentration camp, she may not even support the Nazi’s but she knows her husband is a High Ranking officer and she needs to respect that.

Bruno: The 8 year old boy who is saddened about the move; main character.
Mother: Girl that raises Bruno and Gretel, and is sad about moving in a way.
Father: High rank Nazi Soldier who has to move for his job.

Grandma: The grandparent that lives near Bruno
Grandpa: Other grandparent that lives near Bruno.
The Scrawny Soldier- Official Looking man that didn’t know what to do with Bruno

The three new maids and the old man who looked very unhappy. We can only guess that these are Jews that were set aside to assist the family. These is also a Nazi soldier who must be working for Father. When Bruno looked out the window he saw the kids in it. Bruno has no idea what it is he just doesn’t like the look of it.  Bruno doesn’t have the best relationship with Gretel, he thinks she is boring and bland, but he respects her and is almost afraid of her. Bruno really has no idea what is going on, he doesn’t know what the concentration camp is and he can’t say Auschwitz so he says Out-With instead. I don’t think he realizes how long they will be at the house either, he doesn't realize what his dad does nor why they have to move

Friday, February 7, 2014

Long Shot 64-81

Pedro is running against Ned, the most popular kid and also the best basketball player, for class President. Ned and Pedro's relationship starts going downhill big time. It is even transferring over to basketball and Pedro is starting to lose his starting point guard position because Ned is trying to make him look worse than the second string kid. Ned's plan is working and Pedro is starting to lose more and more playing time. On the next Saturday, when Pedro and his dad, Luis, got done playing soccer, Luis noticed something was wrong with Pedro and Pedro said that it was with basketball. Pedro said that he just isn't very good at basketball anymore. He didn't tell Luis about Ned. What will Luis think?

Helmuth Final Thoughts

When Helmuth was a little kid, he adored Hitler and the Nazi soldiers. Then, when he grew older, his grandparents, Oma and Opa kept bashing on Hitler. He realized that they weren't very good people, and he saw what they did to the innocent Jews. Then, Hugo married Mutti, Helmuth's mother, and Hugo was a high ranking military person in the army, so Helmuth didn't really look up to him at all. Helmuth has two brothers, Gerhard and Hans. Hans is a ship builder and Gerhard was a soldier. One day Gerhard brought home a shortwave radio and told Helmuth not to listen to it. When Gerhard left for the war, Helmuth disobeyed Gerhard and listened to a British frequency. The British said all of the German deaths and the British deaths, and their broadcasting station seemed more legit than the German stations because they talked about their own deaths, too. So, Helmuth believed them, and him and his friends, Rudi and Karl, started making flyers. They put the flyers in peoples pockets and gave them to all kinds of people. One day they eventually got caught and Helmuth took all of the blame for it. They went to court and Helmuth made the Judges mad and they gave Helmuth a death sentence and his friends went to jail for ten, five, and four years. Helmuth died on the 264th day in prison.

1. Helmuth died a happy death and I think that it was worth it because he told a lot of people the truth about Germany.
2. I think the flashbacks help out with the book and make it more interesting. I liked the flashbacks.
3. I think they were less guilty because it was Helmuth's idea to listen to the radio and make the pamphlets.
4. I don't think that it was fair that Helmuth got the death penalty because he was just telling the truth. I agree that Helmuth shoud have gotten a longer sentence, but not the death penalty.
5. I think Helmuth's death made an impact on Mutti and she will probably believe Helmuth now. I think she would speak out more because her son was willing to die for his beliefs.
6. Gerhard will probably believe Helmuth about the German deaths and Gerhard will speak out more instead of staying silent.

Long Shot 32-52

Pedro is running for class President and so is the star of the basketball team, Ned. Pedro isn't sure that he will win, but at lunch his friends talk him up and say that they will help him win. Their school takes class president way more serious than ours and they have a huge assembly on it. Ned is the first one to go up and say that he wants to run for President. Ned and Pedro are the only two running for President. When Ned went up he got a huge applause, but when Pedro went up he got nothing, just the rustling of clothes in the background.

Long Shot 15-32

Pedro's father, Luis, and Pedro are outside on a Saturday morning playing soccer when they take a rest. Luis asks how Pedro could love basketball more than soccer, and Pedro says that he just does. Back to basketball, Pedro was more of a passer than a shooter. If he saw an opening in the court, he knew he could make the pass, but if he was left with an open fifteen or twenty foot shot, he would only hope that he could make it. So, he worked on his shooting as much as he could so he could be a complete player. Pedro waited to tell his friend, Joe Sutter, until lunch the next day. What will his friends think of his idea.

Long Shot 1-15

Ned is a very good basketball player, and he is probably the best sixth grader in town. Pedro is the point guard of their team and Pedro knows that it is always Ned's game and everyone else is just playing in it. Pedro also like to play soccer, and Pedro and his dad Luis would play soccer every Saturday morning. Pedro and Luis both loved those days and wouldn't give up anything for them. Luis owns a restaurant.

The Boy Who Dared Power

Helmuth's teacher abuses his power by not acting the same towards the Jews in Helmuth's class. This impacts Helmuth's life by affecting Helmuth's view of the Nazis and Jews. He doesn't see why people don't like Jews because they are normal people just like Helmuth.

I am inferring that Helmuth will listen to the radio when Gerhard leaves and he will get caught by someone and he will get sent to prison.

Game 191-205

Drew's team is in the Championship game against Franklin K. Lane. Everybody knows their school. You had to be a really good ball player to play on their team. Every kid would be outside on the playground showing off their basketball skills and you always had to look back to see who was catching you talent wise. They were a good fast paced team that ran the court and they were up by seven at halftime and up by nine in the third quarter. Lane ended up winning the game with a buzzer beater that just barely rolled in.

Game 181-191

Drew and his team are in the playoffs and their first game is against a pretty good team, Our Lady of Mercy. They ended up beating them and they got all excited even though everyone was telling them to relax. The next team that they have to play, Roosevelt, looked like they thought they were going to win because in warm-ups they were all joking around with smiles on their faces. They were a big team; everyone was ripped and they didn't have a single white person. By halftime Drew was up by 11. They won in the end by 12 and Drew felt pretty good about the win. At home his dad was very proud of him and he started tearing up because he was so proud of his son.

Game 132- 150

Drew was feeling sluggish in this game and everything he was doing was wrong. The first time he got the ball, he traveled. The next time, he threw up an air ball. Drew came out for a while, but when they were down by six with 4 minutes left in the game, he came in. He got them back into the game and ended up having the game winning shot that he took right out of Tomas's hands. Tomas wasn't too happy about that and he was yelling at Drew at the end of the game about it, but Ruffy picked him up and slammed him to the ground, and that made Tomas be quiet. Tomas still wasn't happy with Drew though, even the next day they ignored each other in the hallways at school.

Game 152- 160

Everyone was talking about the big game coming up against Bryant, one of the best teams in their division. Bryant was the only team that was undefeated up until they had their first loss last week against Warrick. This game was pretty much for division champions. This game was so big that the principal even called for a pep rally, which usually doesn't happen. When they were at the game, Boogie, their best player, wasn't in their layup lines in warm-ups until he came down from the stands with signs that read Beware the Boogie Man. In the game Boogie got the first points with a dunk over Tomas.

Game 101-124

They are playing a pretty good team and the coach doesn't want to put Drew in because he thinks that it is going to be an easy game. It wasn't an easy game, and they were down by 15 at half time. House puts Drew in now and they go on a 14-2 run and are only down by three. By the end of the third quarter they are up by six, but they have a good guy whose number is 14. He crosses Drew so bad that he makes him do a full 360, and he steps back and swishes a three. Drew's team ends up being down by one point in the fourth quarter and Ruffy brings the ball up quick. With six seconds left, Drew takes the ball to the hole and goes up with it, but their seven foot guy goes for the block, so Drew passes it out wildly and Tomas ends up getting the ball and making the buzzer beater. After the game Drew invited Tomas over to his house. How will Tomas feel about this?

Helmuth's Attitude

Helmuth admires Hitler and his intentions to take over the world. He doesn't see why Oma and Opa don't like him. He feels a deep love for all things German, and he loves Hitler's raspy voice and fills him with fear. He loves his country and wants to serve his Country. He admires the soldiers and hopes to one day be one of them. He doesn't see why Hitler hates Jews. Helmuth knows a few Jews and he thinks that they are just normal, nice people.

Game 82-101

Drew's friend got arrested for some crime and he is in court. Drew wanted to go, so he took the subway to the courthouse. After that they went out to eat at a restaurant. The next day, in school, Drew and some of his friends were talking with Colin, the new kid. They were just messing around in class and having a good time telling jokes and talking about girls. When they went to lunch Couch House stopped Drew in the hallway and said he would take him out to lunch. When they went out to a restaurant the two talked about basketball and their team. House said that he heard from a couple of scouts that Drew isn't much of a team player and wouldn't fit in a collegiate program. House said that he was trying to sit Drew so he would see it. How will Drew react to this?

Game 68-82

Drew and his team play FDA. They have never really had an explosive player, but they have always had a good team as a whole. Some teams expect to just come in a blow them out of the water and walk away with a big L on their foreheads. Coach House is never to happy with Drew and Drew is easily the best player on the team. He got them up by four by halftime and they held that lead until the fourth quarter with three minutes left. It all went downhill from there. They almost came back in the end, but Tomas tried being a hero and pulled up and shot. He got stuffed so hard that the ball went passed halfcourt. What will Coach House say about the loss.

Game 44-59

Tomas invited Drew over to his house, and Drew didn't really want to go, but he thought that he should be polite. So, Drew went to Tomas's house, and when they got there Tomas's mom asked Drew if he wanted any tea. He said sure and Tomas had to go get some. While the two waited for Tomas, they talked and Tomas's mom told him stories about back in Czech Republic. After that Drew and his mom went to a homeless shelter and donated food to them. A lot of the people were rude to them.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Game 32-44

Drew asks his little sister how school is going, and she says it is going alright. Than he asks her where the Czech Republic is and she says it is by Germany. She asks him why he asked her and he said that there was a new kid in his school from there. At their next game Coach House put the two new white guys in. Collin, the smaller guard, wasn't doing very good when he tried bringing the ball up. It would get stolen about every time, and the bigger guy was actually pretty good down in the post. He got blocked the first couple times he shot though.

MLK Day

Martin Luther King Jr. was a very brave man to stand up for human rights against all of the people that were against him. In the Holocaust Jews were viewed as less than humans, and in Martin Luther King's era Blacks were viewed as less than humans. They both abused their power by thinking that their race was the perfect race and any other races were bad. Martin Luther King spoke out against this terrible thing and wasn't silent anymore. The inhumane actions were that the Jews were put in death camps, concentration camps, and labor camps, and the blacks were put into slavery. The blacks also couldn't attend the same schools as the whites just like the Jews with the Germans. Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. were two main people that spoke out about slavery. There were people in Germany also speaking out about how horrific things were happening to the Jews and they tried to stop it.

I have seen on a TV show that when people babysit, they abuse their power by making the kids get them food and pop. They also make them feed themselves and do stuff themselves.  They abuse their power that the parents gave them.

Game 7-32

Drew is a very good basketball player. He is easily the best person on his team. He is leading the team in points, assists, and defense. Last year he got his team to the semifinals and he had scouts coming to look at him, and it was only his junior year. Now he is coming into his senior year hoping to get scouted by some Division 1 schools. Two new white kids came to their school and joined the basketball team. One was a little guard, and the other one was a 6'6" center that had broad shoulders and was muscular. There were reporters that came in and interview the big white center. His name was Tomas. What did they interview him about?

Game 1-7

Drew and his sister, Jocelyn are watching the news with their mom. On the news is stuff about the bad things that happen in their neighborhood. They live in Harlem and there is always bad stuff happening like shootings and stick ups. Drew's mom doesn't like it when there are bad things on the news about their neighborhood. She tells Drew to stay off of the streets and stay in the gym.

Summer Ball 220-239

Danny watched Zach play in the 11-12 year old championship that Zach easily won. He didn't even have to play the last 5 minutes because they were up by so much. Zach is a really good player and it looks like he is just on a different level than everyone else is. Danny is playing in the Championship now and he is playing the Lakers, Lamar's team. Lamar is a cocky kid that is the Laker's best player, but he doesn't play defense. They got down by 14 in the first half and cut it to 9 by the end of the third quarter. How will the Celtics do against a Laker nine point lead in the fourth quarter?

Summer Ball 204-218

Danny just threw his bowling ball pass and Coach Powers was not happy with him at all. He was yelling at Danny very loudly so that everyone in the gym could hear him. Until, Josh Cameron came over. Josh was one of Coach's friends that coached basketball as well and even played when he was younger. He said that it was a great pass that Danny made and said that he would have done the same thing. When Josh said that Coach Powers agreed with him and said that Danny was a great player.

Things that you couldn't change would affect you outcome. For example, if you had brown hair, instead of blonde hair, that could lead to your death. If you spoke out against Hitler, no matter who you are, there were still consequences for your actions. That lead people to be silent in their beliefs most of the time because you didn't know what other people were like so you usually didn't speak to anybody about not liking Hitler. There were two options, either be fully committed to Hitler's plan or be punished.

1. Adolf Hitler hated jews and other groups of people. He got this hatred from past experiences. World War one was hard on germany so hitler turned this recessionz against the jews. Nazis invaded Poland.
2.It ended the state of war between germany and the allied powers. They had to give up their weapons and make reparations.
3. Reich means “the state” the Third Reich was the third regime or empire
4. Hindenburg gave him the position of chancellor. Hitler has great war tactics and he is a great speaker.
5. He put the Jews and Polish in concentration camps just because he could. He judged people off of past experiences he had. He slaughtered them by gas chambers because he could and it showed his power
6. 1918 First WW ends
1919 Treaty of Versailles
1939 Hitler expresses his hatred of Jews
1942 Final Jew problem plan by Nazis
1944 D-Day
1945 Germany collapses
Germany takes over many other nations and they have great war tactics.

7. When the allied nations started to close in on Germany the Nazi forces spread themselves  to thin and the Allied nations took Germany. They starved.

Summer Ball 198-204

Danny and Ty woke up early in the morning so they could practice. They went onto one of the bad courts where they could practice by themselves. Danny tried to work on defense more than offense because that was what Coach Powers liked. When they got into the game there were twenty seconds left in the game and Rasheed was supposed to iso himself and get to the hoop but he got trapped and passed to Danny, but Danny wasn't open so he passed it back to Rasheed through the defender's legs. Rasheed couldn't catch it though. What will Coach Powers say to Danny next?

Summer Ball 186-197

The Celtics, Danny's team, was playing another team after losing two straight games. Danny knew he had to step up because their best player, Rasheed Hill, was out with a leg injury. Danny helped the team come back with the game winning shot that Danny assisted to Will Stoddard for the three to win the game. Danny played a great game and coach Powers was still not happy because Danny drew up his own play. What will Danny have to do in practice next?

Friday, January 10, 2014

Summer Ball 166-174

Danny is a small guy but he has a big brain to think of plays with. When the Celtics were down to their opponents by 1 point in the fourth quarter, Danny thought up a play. He would throw the ball at the back board so Rasheed could get it and lay it in easily. The play worked to perfection and Danny threw a perfect pass and Rasheed caught it midair and layed it right in.
